About Us

WE ARE CREATIVE THINKERS, CONSTRUCTORS, AND ARTISANS

We combine artistic skill, a commitment to getting the details right, a tireless work ethic, and a real collaborative working style — to make your biggest, most imaginative themes come to life.

Our History

Edge Concrete Construction, LLC was founded in 2003 by a team of skilled concrete artisans and construction experts. Our original goal: to deliver premium residential and commercial concrete service in western Washington.

We soon gained opportunities to present our artistic and creative skills by taking on themed environment projects with major zoos, aquariums, and museums across the country — many of which developed into multi-project relationships. We realized that to fully develop our themed entity and give our clients the level of artistry and sophistication they deserved, Themed Environments needed to strike out on its own.

“Edge stands out as a company with an advanced commitment to craftsmanship and an excellent approach to communication and customer service.”

Zoo Exhibits

BUILT FOR ANIMALS — AND THE HUMANS WHO LOVE THEM

Zoos and aquariums have come a long way since the basic animal enclosures of the past. Today, exhibits must faithfully reproduce natural wilderness environments that put animal behaviors and wellbeing, first. And they must do it in a way that allows for enriching, inspiring viewing for visitors. We research animals and their habitats, travel to see them in person, and work closely with animal and design teams to make sure our exhibits are conservation-minded, use responsible materials, and feel like a natural habitat.

Museums

A PLACE TO LEARN AND PLAY

When a children’s museum is at its best, it’s a place where young minds can learn, have fun, and play in an explorative environment. We’re committed to creating the kind of museum experiences that kids want to return to again and again. We collaborate and build with patterns of play, safe materials, and ADA requirements in mind, to create exhibits that are as safe as they are memorable.

How We Work

We use a number of methods to craft realistic-looking rock, earth, plant, and animal formations. While our foundation is in the shaping, carving, and painting of concrete, we work with other materials too:
• Steel
• Wood
• FRP
• Foam
• Epoxy
We model an exhibit before the construction phase, to review with clients and learn about how viewpoints, different materials, and the interaction of components will work. We aim for the same level of intricacy in the models — paying close attention to materials and textures — as we do in the full-size exhibits.
